You start the game off in a random room in the game map. Once started, the player chooses a class to play. There are over 8 classes plus unlockable classes. The player can also customize the class chosen by choosing traits such ass weapon specialist(more damage/range), or gifted(faster movement speed, exp gain etc...). Once the players had customized their characters, they should head out and start working on the objectives. The first thing a lot of people do is to hunt for radiation fragments. These are green objects that spawn periodically in random locations of the map. The more rad fragments there are, the stronger and faster the zombies become. Also at higher radiation levels due to unchecked rad fragments; it will damage players over time. The other primary objective is to restore power to the city so APCs can be called in to rescue innoculated civiillians. Power generators are scattered throughout the map, some generators are more damaged then the others. Smart players would choose to charge up the less damaged ones, because they lose less power per second if they weren't charged completely. Once the designated amount of generators are charged, the squad can then proceed to the laboratory in the middle of the map to purchase antidotes. Antidote can be used to turn zombies back into normal civilians. Lead the designated amount of civillians to the APCs spawn point to win the game.
It all sounds really bland on paper, but this game is actually really exciting to play. Noobs can easily get ambushed and killed early even at easy difficulties. At hard or insane levels, its pretty intense, because one mistake can cost you your life. The classes are varied and very unique. There are Medics(healer),Demolition(heavy damage),Sniper(long range assasin duh!),Maverick(recon),Psycologist(support/buffs),Cyborg(AOE damage),Heavy Ordinance(summons droids), and a host of other that I can't recall right now. You will need to know how to use your class effectively to stay alive and to kill the bosses through out the game. They are tough and huge(Godzilla unique boss) and can kill you with one swipe.
Swat uses the save code system that you see on many of the maps. The save codes records the rank experience that you've accumulated. It is unique to your Battle.Net account and can't be used by another login. The ranks allow certain abilities to be unlocked along with special character, like the pyrotechnician. It also gives extra boosts such as more damage and faster firing rate.
Thats basically the jist of it. Take a look at the screenies, go download it, and go kill some zombies!
